Mix a Black Julep, seasonal cocktail with Black Tap Coffee in Charleston, South Carolina.

How did you get started?

Three old college roommates got to chatting on gchat one day about opening our own business. A few months later we had a business plan and were scouting locations in Charleston. Two of us quit our jobs and moved to Charleston to open up Black Tap. The rest is history!

Where are you located?

We are located in downtown Charleston in the Harleston Village Neighborhood.

What are your specialities?

Since the beginning we have always had a small well curated menu of coffee, tea and pastries. In addition we offer a variety of seasonal beverages including homemade sodas and coffee cocktails.

What's your personal favorite thing on the menu?

I am a sucker for simplicity. I love a straight black coffee or espresso.

What's on the stereo?

We have an eclectic set of employees with totally different tastes in music and we let them play whatever they want. You will hear anything from oldies to modern day hip-hop and everything in between.

Where else should we visit in your area?

I always suggest just getting lost in some of the old neighborhoods downtown and taking in the beauty of the city. If you are looking for a bite to eat there is a delicious sandwich shop called Circe's Grotto located just around the corner from our shop. Otherwise Charleston has so many good food and drink stops you really can't go wrong!

Do you host any special events?

We love supporting local culture so we have hosted a variety of after hours events, such as art shows at our shop.

Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

Nope! Just come give us a try and if you can't make it to Charleston order some of our coffee on our website.

Do you have a favorite cafe, restaurant or bar in your town that we should feature? Send us a message!
