Help! I screwed up a sewing project!

No, it's not yet ! It took over 2 hours to remove the mistakes, but I'm still focused! I have some biased seam binding that matches with the fabric, and I pulled out some scraps I had. This just may work!!!!

Help! I screwed up a sewing project!

Ugh! It didn't work! I put it away for now and will decide what to do with it later; maybe refashion it into the blouse part with a tube to hold a tie. Anyway, I'm not giving up!!

Help! I screwed up a sewing project!

I have now decided: I plan to make the collar, except I won't make it a tube; I plan to add a slit partway Dow the back and bind it over. The final part? Put a button in the back to button it together!! Thanks to all of you who have inspired me with your creativity!!

That's a good idea Rebecca - even if you don't have extra fabric to resew the collar, you could use a contrasting colour? Sewing

Question on Tutorials

Good morning,

I'm new to cutoutandkeep.
I have a question I was going to add a project that I did.
I used a pattern from a blogger for the basis of my project.
Can I add it as a full tutorial if I give a link to the blogger's site? Or I just put it under partial.
thanks

MimiLove

Help! I screwed up a sewing project!

I am almost done with a cute dress in a gorgeous fabric. However, I messed up on the collar of the neck; I put the first facing in backwards! So, I took it all off. Now I am stuck. It is in the shape of a halter neck, so I'm thinking of using up some fabric scraps, re-sew a collar that will allow me to put a cord through it. I'm not sure; I have just started again, so this is rather discouraging!!!

Help need a pattern for dungarees

Do I really need fusible interfacing to make a t-shirt quilt? Has anyone tried without it?

I have made several T shirt quilts for Non profits for raffles and I always use a lightweight fusible pellon lining. It makes the fabric easier to attache to cotton fabric I use as the"frame" around the t shirt parts of the quilt. And as i use several t shirts in one quilt it is more stable

Finding tiny doll buttons?

Maybe you could make buttons with shrinkadink plastic that could shrink down small enough. April's links are hopeful. I checked them out. --Best of luck to you.

Anyone Have Experience Sewing Stretchy Fabric on a Regular Sewing Machine?

I have just got a walking foot and a rolling foot. Both of these, when I tested them, appeared to make things much easier although I have yet to try on garments. I have had some difficulty and produced messy results at times on a standard machine but most is down to experience.

I reguarly use a twin needle. I love the professional looking results it gives. I was amazed as I found it little more difficult to use than a single needle, even though the thread follows the same route through the machine at points.

Anyone Have Experience Sewing Stretchy Fabric on a Regular Sewing Machine?

I sewed knits for decade before I got my first serger. A walking foot is very helpful (that video in the previous answer was good.) I have even sewn knits on a Singer 201 Featherweight from the 50s. Used a funky zig zag attachment! Best tips are, make sure your needle and thread type are correct for the fabric type. Adjust your tension until you get it right for your machine and take your time! Millions of women sew on knits all the time without sergers ♥
