You could make lavender sachets, rice bags (that you can heat up or cool down to put on aches and pains) or eye masks to put in the bags. You could make them in fabrics that match each of their personal styles.

Good ideas! I think the twins would get a kick out of dottees as they like to keep little things like that in their cars.

how about personalised dottee (or similar sized) dolls, they could be made to their likeness.
Personalised soaps may be good too?

I'll be visiting PA to see my friends and family in just a couple of weeks.
For my three main girl friends I'll be seeing, I want to make them cosmetic bags and fill each with nifty crafted gifts. I'll probably make a friendship bracelet for each of them, but would like other ideas.

Two of the girls are just a little older than I am (they're also twins), and they like punk and goth things. I have made them both jewelry and hair clips from rubber bats and plastic skeleton hands, so I need some new neat ideas.

The other girl is about four years younger than I am and she isn't really into goth or punk stuff at all. I haven't seen her in a few years so I kinda need some general gifts that a 19 year old would like. There's a sub-21 club that she goes to from time to time, and I know she does like handmade crafts.

I do need the items I make to fit into small cosmetic bags so they will fit in my luggage without taking up a lot of space.

    Any ideas?

My mom was once in the hospital for surgery a few years ago, and she was left in the hospital for about a week to recover. I brought in spray-on shampoo and conditioner since she wasn't getting baths at the hospital. My dad and I also brought her popsicles because she could only get plain ice otherwise.

Slippers and comfortable socks and a nightgown were my mom's three favorite gifts I got her during her hospital stay.

I made an eye mask filled with rice for when I was in the hospital after having my baby. I also filled it with dried rosemary, but you could do lavendar or essential oils to give it a scent.

Also, going to put out there that the best gift I got when I was in the hospital was a bunch of breath mints. When you're unable to or have a difficult time moving- brushing your teeth doesn't happen, so it's nice to have some breath mints in easy reach- maybe make a little box or jar containing some mints- I bet she'd really appreciate it.

You could try something like a plush toy thats filled with rice/wheat to make a heat pack. I've seen tutorials on here and will add a link in a sec. You could also make her something like an eye mask as hospitals are meant to be pretty tricky to sleep in. Or you could make her up a little survival kit with all the things she'll need to survive her hospital stay. I made my niece something similar when she went to her first music festival. I included things like hand sanitiser, ear plugs, eye mask, a little bit of make up, a small can of dry shampoo, etc.

EDIT: here's a link to some of the heat pack projects that have appeared here http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/how-tos/category/fashion/beauty/Toiletries/remedies-soothers/heat_and_cold_packs

My friend is set to have her gallbladder removed next week.. I would like to make her something for a get well gift, but am completely stuck on ideas :(

Can you guys link me to thoughtful project ideas on here that I can whip up quickly? Preferably something thhat doesnt involve crocheting/knitting, as I am not adept at either. Sewing is fine, no food related things either... She is a photographer/photography fan. She is also into music and cute animals.

That's a tough one. You could make her a laptop sleeve or an embellished water bottle or both :) Or, if she likes to cook, get her a cook book. We got my step great grandmother a basket full of exotic fruits, that is also an idea :) Oh and I've got another one: take several big mason jars, and put stuff for making cakes, hot chocolate, cookies, etc. inside in pretty layers, like so:

    I hope I've helped a bit :)

Hi any ideas would be greatly appreciated please!
My Nan is turning 80 in May and would like to make her something really special to commemorate it. Trouble is she's a very crafty woman herself so I feel it's gunna have to be something impressive! Also shes not your average 80yr old shes always on the go and on her laptop- I wouldn't be surprised if she signed up to CO&K!
I've made her jewellery in the past so don't really wanna do that again but I crochet and sew so any ideas???
    Thanks X

My Mom has wanted an ipod for EVER and this christmas my Dad is finally going to get her one. I want to get her a CD with a few songs on it so she can put them on her ipod, but every year I make some part in her gift, and she doesn't appreciate it as much when I just buy her something. Does anyone have any ideas for DIYing this? Like maybe some type of CD holder or something?

One tradition in my family is Ornaments, because we have soo many kids in it. I actually love going and trying to pick out an ornament that "looks" like the person's personality.

Never though about that. :) I'll check it out thanks for the idea! :D

Consider handmade skincare. I have posted a tutorial on how to make lotion. Men tend to like spicy citrus scents. Floral scents seem to be popular with moms. If they have any allergies, make it unscented.

I'm obsessed with gift baskets and the like. I'm hoping to make stocking gift baskets for my family in addition to the gifts I bought for them.

So, I know for sure I'm not the only one making handmade presents for all my friends and family this year. Feel free to share your gift ideas here, as I'm about to share mine!

Since I'm a soapmaker, pretty much everyone I know is getting some sort of skincare-related present.

I'm making gift baskets with soap, lotion, bath soak, and a miscellaneous item for everyone. I'm doing themed baskets of coffee, candy, flowers, and holiday spices. For the coffee basket, there will be coffee liqueur as the misc item. For candy and holiday spices, the misc item will be a bag of assorted candies that match the scents of the bath goods, and for the flower basket there will be flower hair clips.

I'll also be giving jewelry to some people. Since I have so much made already, I'm going to do sets that have earrings plus either a necklace or a bracelet.

I'll probably also make sleeping masks and cosmetic bags to go with the soap baskets I'll be giving to my lady friends and my mom.
    ---

If you're stuck on ideas, there are so many tutorials on here that could be of inspiration. Personally, I'm all about anything that I can put in a gift basket!

If she is somewhere where it gets cold, make her a fleece hat that looks like a baseball and a scarf that looks like grass.
  24. Posted 7 months ago
We do like food. And despite poular bielefe we like home made stuff especially from great friends

I'm ten years old... You can make her a baseball ring you buy a small tiny ball you can find in the fake gun, the one that really hurt and paint it like a baseball with nail polish...coat it with clear nail polish then glue it on a simple ring!! Simple ^_^

Im like Monika, im not very good with kids but ....I just did a craft fair, & a 6 year old fell in love with an alien painting of mine (her mom bought it for her). If u dont want to make her a toy, maybe draw/paint her something? Maybe even a portrait, if ur that good. ;)
Or you could make/get her a sports bag, & decorate it with her name in glitter letters & pics of her favorite things on it. Idk, just throwin round ideas :)

Maybe make a stencil of something she likes and put it on a shirt for her? I'm not very good with knowing what kids want since it's been a long time since I was one, lol. All I liked growing up were video games and Legos... and books.

Maybe to embrace the girly girl in her, you could make her a diary or a little journal type thing.

I'm trying to come up with something to make my cousin. She's turning 6 (or 7, I can't remember but I think it's 6). She's a bit of a girly girl, she play with barbie dolls and what not. But she's more of a tomboy, she's on the baseball team, enjoys playing sports, watching wrestling, hates dresses, etc. Any craft or gift ideas? It doesn't have to be home made. Don't say toys, she has enough of those scattered all over her house. I'm trying to come up with something creative but I'm frsh out of ideas. Help?

Lol. I do like ThinkGeek. I've always wanted the 403: Not Modified tank top for myself :P

I like the apron idea of yours, PinkWeeds. He and I both love comics by Brian Lee (chickensnack on tumblr) and KC Green and his favorite line of all time is "Homer I don't eat or drink anymore." I will HAVE to put that on an apron! It would definitely make him want to cook more, and he's an awesome cook.
