Crafting Ethics Dilemma!

Those animals were killed and are long dead and that act cannot be taken back by anyone. Future deaths of animals for bones and tusks can be stopped but we can only learn from the past not change it, no matter how much we may wish to. It is better to take their remains and create something beautiful than to leave them in a box and ignore them, to let them die for nothing.

Crafting Ethics Dilemma!

I am at a loss here...
Many years ago, when my mother was a teenager, she inherited several ivory & bone necklaces which she wouldn't ever wear because, well, ivory.
Recently, she passed them along to me with the idea that I could use the materials for my beading projects, but I find myself in the same predicament as she was: is it ethical for me to use ivory?

I love natural materials, but it seems like none of them are ethically sourced! Cry

PS: the shadow is my feline. He wants me to work on something so that he can inhibit me

"Invisible Illnesses"

I also have an invisible illness. RA and Fibro.
Hang in there. Rest when you can. Remember that you are not alone and you have people that need you to fight like a warrior.

RANT: People stealing your ideas!!!

I'm in agreement with Ravens Trove. Do what you can to prevent the problem and realize that this is not just you going through this.
Glad you could vent to us at CO&K. We feel your pain. I have an Artist I follow in several online sites. She is going through the same thing but it is a Gaming programmer that is using her Photographs of her work. She Watermarks everything but they are cropped around it. Cry

Stupid hair dye didnt do anything!!!!

Attempted to dye my hair medium brown last night and it looks like I'm one of them chocolate and lime sweets!! My hair was previously blue (lagoon blue from directions colours) as I'm getting past my teens I've been finding it very hard to get a job with my hair colour, unfortuanetly my hair colour wasn't professional enough to be accepted by most work places so I thought to stop all the hassle and complaints I would dye my hair a more natural colour, but it's not worked!! It's a hair disaster I cannot face going outside with! Any suggestions why it didn't work?? I managed to cover all the blue with the dye and was looking like it was taking to all my hair but as soon as it came to washing it out I've been left with blue patchy streaks. Sad

"Invisible Illnesses"

I have CRPS and all it's related disorders. I use pacing, meditation and Bowen therapy along side medication to help manage pain. I realised it's not a case of what I can't do, but what I can still do. I use that as my base line and if I can't do new things it doesn't matter. I'm quite restricted in my mobility and have found some unusual ways to get dressed. Each day is different so I'm going to get on with living. As for anyone who passes judgement on me for moving slow or eg. not being able to respond to messages quickly enough they get told politely to grow up and stop being selfish. Hope you are all managing to have some breaks from your discomforts x

"Invisible Illnesses"

It's a terrible condition, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. When it's dormant I'm almost okay, but when it flares up I might face months of being completely unable to eat anything solid, and subsisting on nothing but nutrient shakes and soup and yogurt gets pretty miserable pretty quickly. And to top it all off, I've just been diagnosed with another chronic condition, only this one is degenerative and I can't treat it at all. I was recently diagnosed with essential tremors, which are very mild at this point but are already making my life very difficult considering I rely on my hands for everything I do. There are definitely days (especially these last couple quarters since the tremors started) that I just want to give up, and people who refuse to accept that I'm not making my conditions up certainly don't help. It's only my devotion to making a career out of the things I love that is still keeping me going at this point, and the fact that I've made friends with several people in my current design class who have chronic illness issues as well.

"Invisible Illnesses"

My stepdaughter has gastroparesis. She's had to stop eating meat and has real issues with anything high in fibre or protein, whether animal of vegetable based. Fibre and protein take the longest to digest so they cause the most issues, but even so there will be days when all she's had is a few fries and she's up for hours in agony.

It's not a well known condition but it is very debilitating. She's constantly anaemic, takes more supplements than most athletes and has lost loads of weight due to the condition.

Keep in there and the very best of luck.

Anna, this board is for people to discuss their every day lives. There is nothing wrong with people asking for personal advice here.

I guess I lack to see why the school would suspend him for having a fit. Autistc children throw fits when they don't understand something or can't figure out how else to show their frustrations. The school should be equipped to handle that and suspension as a result is ridiculous. She shouldn't be mad at her son in this case, she should be raising a stink with the school. Having worked in the school system here, (I'm not sure if you're in the U.S or elsewhere) but in the U.S. almost all schools have plans in place for special education students to help deal with these outburts and disruptions that occur. Suspension would only be resorted to if the student caused harm to another person. I wouldn't worry about punishing him over that, I'd worry about raising all sorts of hell with the school though.

Sorry, but this isn't really a great place for that sort of advice. We are artisans, not judges.
