I think you can use better fabric. Take a look at stretchable book covers. If you want to you can change it whenever you want. (i am sorry for my bad English. I come from Holland ;P)

How would I cover a chipboard book with scrapbook papers. It has a scalloped round edge. Could I use spray adhesive and fabric, or could I decopage it. I am looking for suggestions to make an awesome small recipe book for family members. Thanks, Carlymom

I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried using watercolor paper? it's stiff, and somewhat thick, and meant to absorb liquids, obviously.. but I wonder if it's maybe *too* stiff?? Just wondering...

Thank you for all your help. :)

There's matte gel if you want your paper mache to be very hard when it's dry. It's kinda like a paste version of modpodge... it's less sticky and dries faster but it adds a hard matte finish.

Yep dip the strips in the mixture..if if is too gooey add water too watery??add newspaper and glue :D
  17. Posted 7 months ago
so, do I dip the newpaper strips into my mixture or add the newspaper into it and stir and get it out? I haven't paper mached anything for yearsssss, haha. Thank you for the glue recommendation! I was going to use flour because all of the tutorials I found suggested it, but ickyyyyy.

  18. Posted 7 months ago
You can use glue, water and newpapers but they should wet and usually the wet newspapers are drippy and if we touch it it s like strands of cotton so that's what you need so what you do is mix white glue into wet crumpled newspaper but I recommend to tear it into pieces and mix then after it is all gooey you add little water again too watery add glue that s how you balance and

I agree. Whatever you do, don't use a flour and water paste/mix. It goes rotten after a while unless you preserve it really well, and even if it doesn't rot bugs can tunnel into it and not only fill it with bugs but also create little holes all over you mask. And it's just gross.
Glue and water are a pretty good direction to go. I don't remember what I usually use - I don't make big things all that often, so I usually just guess at the amounts. 3 to 1 sounds about right, though. Good luck with your mask :]

I use 3 parts glue 1 part water mix I don't reccomend flour bc bugs are drawn to it as a food source...groooooos

so I need to start working on my Halloween mask, and I am overwhelmed by all of the "best" paper mache recipes.

Does anyone on here have a tried and true paper mache recipe? if so, would you please share? thanks!

Bring true meaning to the word Vintage! I love oldyworldy stuff like that. I would love to see what you do with the scanned version.
  23. Posted 8 months ago
You could use COFFEE to stain it and make it look vintage.... It REALLY works and I've tried this BEFORE!!

Does anyone know where to find a basic template for a card to put in a coffee cozy? I want something basic that looks like a coffee cup that I can tweak and make my own and print off on cardstock. Something I can stick into my cozies and look nice.

I love your idea! How amazing! (:

I'd suggest making your own paper? Use different shades of orange, red, grey or purple to resemble the gothic themes in addition to halloween themes? (: There are plenty of tutorials on here to show you how to make your own paper. (:

Or use coloured cartridge paper? (:

Another idea could be to go to a craft shop and buy some special card with patterns on it. I got one of these large 12 x 12inch books of 36 papers. It's called 'Deigner Papers' by K&Company. They have pretty papers that you could use as borders - just cut out some fancy lacey border and place it ontop of the paper that you choose to use for your certificate to give it a pretty/gothic effect. (: (I'd try Hobbycraft, as I got mine from there).

Anyway! I really hope you have fun making your certificate! (: Good luck, and let me know if you want anymore help! (:

Hope this helped in any way. S:

So ladies, I am unable to find a gothic style, or Halloween keepsake Wedding Certificate anywhere, and the ones that I do find, are not what I am looking for.

So I have decided I shall make one myself. That way, I can incorporate all of the elements of our wedding into our certificate and it be special. Nothing in our wedding was like anyone else's. We made everything custom. So the certificate should be as well.

Which leads me to the question, of what paper would be the best for giving an antique look, and be thick, but not too thick for my printer?

I think I will stamp the designs on to it, but print the wording.

We are coming up on our 2 year anniversary on Halloween, and we still have yet to have a beautiful certificate on the wall......the county we got our license from, has the most ugly thing ever.......it is our license on the top in small format, and then the lower half is our wedding certificate. Plus, it is in like this weird green.

    Anyways! any help? thanks!

I store mine digitally and print it off when I need it. Scraps that are usable go into a box.

I have envelopes within folders. Bits of paper that are pretty small go into big envelopes, then the envelopes get labeled something like "Christmas Card Bits" then I put the envelopes into a expanding file folders also called an accordion file folder. Also in the folder are bigger pieces of paper arranged by type, color or theme. I do the same thing for my stickers and other flat scrap-booking type embellishments. Paper that comes in a stack bound together (like big scrap-booking stacks) I keep together and right next to the file folders on the shelf.

I was thinking about how I store paper, and how my file folders are so big its really hard to close them, there must be a fun way to display them while being super organized. So I went searching on Pinterest, and I found this link
    http://dontblink.typepad.com/septemberblue/2011/05/paper-organization.html
And I love it! I don't think I have the self space for it just now, but when I set up my new craft room after my big move in December, I will totally be incorporating this system for organizing paper. I bet you have the space for it though lol.

Figuring out the best place and way to store paper has always been a problem for me, so I'd love to hear how you guys deal with it!

I like matte mod podge, but it can be finnicky to apply evenly. I like using a sponge brush with mod podge that's been watered down a little for a smooth consistency.
