I'd love to sew my own clothes, but i don't have the money or a sewing machine (and the machines are sooo expensive here in my little town) i really want to sew my own because one, i hate the styles we get in my town because they are either exteremly slutty or overly baggy. And, well as awkward as it sounds, my boobs and waist contradict themselves. a 24 inch waist, and 32f boobs so i can't find clothes that look nice on me for the hell of it. If their form fitting, their aways to short (and i hate showing off my mid section! i have nasty scars on it) or if there baggy i look horrid, i have a nice figure but i can show it off if i want to keep my stomach from being shown Happy And if i could sew my own clothes i could fix that.

oh my god! i bet you're hot! 24 inch waist and 32f boobs?! YOWSA.

you could always buy clothes in charity shops and recon them. It's really simple to take things in in places.

Vest are a good place to start in my book. You can get all crazy with them. I think the next one I make will be of Kente cloth for a steam punk outfit I want to make.

There is a JoAnn fabric near me that is closing. They had a few patterns left over for .25 cents and this is what I got.

So that's what I'll be working on. I'm gonna Victorian up that night gown. I have wanted one for years. And the coat is so cute. I just love the collar.

Oh and thank you for the feedback on the vest fabric. Dull side won by one vote. It's in the works now.

Everyone says i hot, but i don't know, i have some major self image issues(i grew up in a family of extremely overweight people, so it's hard not to). And the only charity shop we have in town is the Salvation Army, ad at the moment they hold their clothes for the homeless people of the town, or the well-fare families. So i can't even touch the clothes Happy

Who really has time to sew their own clothing anyway? So far in my life I've made
1. a crime fighting dress (like superhero girls)
2. a punk skirt
3. a long sleeved shirt
4. two pairs of fuzzy grandma pants
5. a poncho
6. a hula dress

Most of that stuff I can't wear out in public.

I just made myself a petticoat! It's biiiiiiig. Although not as petticoat as I'd have liked. Boo to small budgets and poor maths skills!

I think about a third of my wardrobe is made my me...I have a thing for long flowy skirts and dresses, so I have a ton of them.....but I think I might share Roma's problem of too small of a budget and poor math skills. Tongue I have yet to make a pair of pants or anything very fitted that I would wear out of my house. Happy
