As far as hedgehogs go, its best to buy them from a breeder, and the type your buying is normally an african pygmy hedgehog. Were i live we dont normally see hedgehogs in the wild ( im not sure if we have any). Hedgehogs that visit gardens should not be taken as pets because they are truly wild, while pet ones at least have some slight notion that humans are friends. They need a cage with enough room for them to roam around, and ect. They shouldnt be fed hedgehog brand pet food because it normally it does not have the right nutrietenal requiremts to support their systems. Most people use high grade kitten dry food, a bit of wet food, and some live bugs, like crickets or meal worms ( bought from a pet store, wild bugs could make a tame hedgie sick)

I am terrified of snakes!! Snakes and planes, I don't do!!
Yeah Laurel, ferrets are cousins to skunks, you have to get them fixed so they won't smell, and females have to be spayed too when kept as a pet, they can't live without mating, so if you don't want babies, you gotta get them fixed. Both procedures I hear costs well up into the hundreds to get done. Also, it's better to have two because they are very active and are happier in groups of two or more. It's also said that a ferret's greatest delight is to outwit a human. I most likely will never own one, but they are just too cute to me.

Angie - that's what I thought about wild ones, but in the UK hedgehogs are seen in the wild frequently but there aren't really many places you can buy one... that's why I thought it was a bit strange. I wouldn't want to just pick one out of the garden coz it might s cause all sorts of distress to it.

Creativemind - oh my gosh thats a lot of money to get it fixed... I think they are adorable too. I doubt I'll ever have another pet after my cat lolly has gone. But I just love the thought of having a ferret or hedgehog one day =D

Gloom Cookie - lol hahaha how funny is that? I'd love to say that to people when they ask me what kidna pet ave. Chipmonk? how cuuuuute.
