A Doctor Who-themed kindle cover.
Although I'm not personally a Doctor Who fan (because I've never watched it), a friend suggested I make a Tardis kindle cover, and I can never say no to a challenge.

  • How to make a tablet sleeve. Tardis Kindle Cover - Step 1
    Step 1

    I decided that I didn't want to hand paint or stitch the text on the Tardis, so instead I printed out the images in the size that I wanted, cut them out and modge podged them onto the vinyl.

  • Step 2

    Make your pattern based on the size of the gadget you are covering, and cut out your basic cover shape from vinyl.

    Cut out 5 squares from vinyl to make the blocks on the door. Your sixth square will be the note, which you modge podged.

    Stick on the squares and secure them by sewing.

    Step 5

    Stitch on your "Police Box" sign, and cut out 12 tiny white leather rectangles to make the windows. Stick and then stitch them on.

    Sew a thin strip of blue vinyl down the centre.

    Pin your back and front case pieces together (right sides facing) and sew.

    Turn right side out.

    Sew the two pieces of your lining fabric together.

    Step 10

    Add the button to the front of the cover, and add the elastic to the back, to loop around the button.

    Step 11

    Turn right side out and insert into the cover, folding over the top edge of the vinyl and sewing down, covering the edge of the lining to secure it.
