Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Start with your super large sweater of your choice,

  2. Step 2 2

Cut just under the arms of your sweater in a straight line.

  3. Step 3 3

Fold this piece in half and cut out the shape you want your skirt to be.

  4. Step 4 4

Take what will be your back piece and fold it in half.

  5. Step 5 5

Cut this piece in half down the fold line.

  6. Step 6 6

Cut your two back pieces into trapizoids.

  7. Step 7 7

Place your front skirt piece and your two back skirt pieces right sides together. Pin along sides and sew.

  8. Step 8 8

Finish the raw edges along your skirt back piece,

  9. Step 9 9

Take your cotton fabric and cut another trapizoid piece that is the length of your skirt by the width you want it + seam allowances.

Finish the edges of this piece.

  10. Step 10 10

Gather the fabric, trims and laces you want to use for your ruffles.

    Finish any raw edges.

  11. Step 11 11

To make easy quick ruffles set the tension on your sewing machine to the highest number and your stitch length to the longest setting. Sew in a straight line and you will see instant gathers on light weight fabric.

  12. Step 12 12

Begin to pin and sew your ruffles on working from the bottom up.

  13. Step 13 13

    .

  14. Step 14 14

Carefully pin and sew your ruffle gusset two your skirt back pieces. Be careful
    to not catch your ruffles.

  15. Step 15 15

Next take your left over piece of sweater and remove the sleeves any neckline.

  16. Step 16 16

Cut 8 identical rectangles in to fit your waist measurment. (note: sweater material stretches so it's ok if you cut it a little small.)

  17. Step 17 17

Pin and sew right sides together of your pieces so you have 2 waist bands.

  18. Step 18 18

Place your two waist bands with right sides together and sew along top.

  19. Step 19 19

Pin your waist band right sides together to your skirt and pin and sew down.

  20. Step 20 20

Flip your waist band right sides out and pin and sew your waist band down into the inside of your skirt.
