Ra Ra Rasputin, lover of the Russian queen They put some poison into his wine Ra Ra Rasputin, Russia's greatest love machine He drank it all and said "I feel fine"
This is my Grigori Rasputin doll. I was in a funky music mood and played Rasputin by Boney M. and thought why not make a Rasputin doll? I did a little bit of research on him and the interesting life he led as well as the puzzling and almost mythical circumstances of his Death. He was stabbed at one point in his life, and recovered only to have many more attempts on his life later. He was supposedly poisoned with cyanide, 4 times enough to kill one man and he survived. Then he was ultimately shot 4 times, bludgeoned, sexually mutilated, wrapped in a carpet and thrown into an icy river. And wouldn't you know he escaped his confines only to drown. Doesn't end there either, he was pulled from the river and autopsied, once autopsied he was burned and according to legend he sat up in the flames.

In the background you can see my reference on the trusty PSP and oddly enough he bears an EXTREMELY strong resemblance to a man I used to work with lol. Now bear in mind that I do not prescribe to the belief that any of my sculptures are dead on, I believe I did a decent job but theres no point in ever beating yourself up for imperfections.

    Step 3

I mixed up a fresh batch of pale Siberian flesh tone that's a joke I don't need hate mail from Матери России lol That's Mother Russia for the linguistically challenged.

    Step 4

Rasputin's hair was rather stringy, here I used hemp. It looks a bit like dreds though so maybe next time I'll make his hair with something thinner.

    Step 5

This is one of my most common doll bodies. Its construction is rather simple. Holes are drilled into the shoulders and wires are inserted with a drop of glue. Dowels are then added to these wires. The legs are made in a similar fashion except that the knees are made with tabs. I glue a small wood tab to the legs drill a hole in each tab and join them with wire, bending them to secure.

Here is his robe, made to fit his body

    Step 7

I made his hands out of Crayola model magic, as well as his shoes. In most pictures I found of Rasputin, he was doing the sign of the cross "E nomine patri et filii et spiritus sancti" so I posed him this way for his photo shoot.
