  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First, buy or get hold of a cheap pair of canvas shoes.

Take out the laces of the shoes and stuff them with newspaper.

This will give you a firm area to paint on.

I also opened up the Velcro straps.

Put masking tape along the rubber at the bottom of the shoe. This is so we don't get paint on it.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Next, Paint a base coat of one colour on the shoe. I used Yellow.

I used two pots of fabric paint to paint the shoes.

Make sure you do this in a well lit room so that you can make sure you dont miss any areas.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

Draw your design onto white paper and when your happy with it go over it a number of times with pencil. A heavy pencil can be used with a soft led.

Place the design on the shoe where you want it and rub on the paper so that the pencil can be seen printed on the shoe lightly.

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Draw over the pencil lines with a fabric pen. You can also use fabric paint but i found it easier with the pen.

    Colour design as desired.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Remove Masking tape from the shoe rubber and the newspaper from inside the shoe and use a hairdryer to help the paint set.

Put the hairdryer on the highest setting and point towards shoe.

Make sure you have heated the whole shoe.

You can see if the paint has set by wetting part of the shoe but this is optional.

If your worried about the paint coming off the shoe, Dont get them wet :P haha. But the hairdryer should set the fabric paint.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Re-lace the shoe, and wear with the perfect outfit. ^^
