Butterfly Stamp Necklace

A stamp, string, pendant and button snaps = necklace
 <  Image 1 of 3  >

While garage-saling one day I bought a small gold pendant framing a photo (of someone's grandchild, I believe) and dozens of pages of old stamps with wildlife and plant themes.

First I used the photo that the pendant came with to trace the shape of my new image, an old butterfly stamp. I then glued it in place and measured enough string to go around my neck loosely. I doubled up the string and put it through the hole on the pendant beofore tying each end to a snap button. The purpose of the buttons was to allow easy removal of the necklace.

This is a great replacement for a chain if you don't have the funds or desire to buy one. Also, it's one way to repurpose pendants or lockets that seem to have outlived their purpose of displaying child photos.
