Laptop cover from wool skirt

I have this very smart looking houndstooth wool skirt that I am willing to sacrifice to make a laptop cover. The laptop I'm making it for is actually a netbook. Approx measurements are 10"x12". I would like to put some kind of padding in it to act as a cushion.
Any suggestions how to proceed? I have beginning sewing skills. The look I'm going for is tailored & stylish.

Thanks!

m~

Hi Michelle, I've made two of these. They were made for purpose rather than beauty ! I used fleece as padding and was lucky enough to have some expensive goretex which I recycled from a jacket that had the arm ripped off in a ski lift accident. So I made a sandwich of Fleece, padding and goretex.Make sure you leave enough room to truck the top in. Does the skirt have a lining that you can unpick and stuff?
