DIY The Look

Create a feminine and edgy outfit for summer in #DIYTheLook with englishwren.

I liked this look because it's a great mix of feminine and edgy, my city girl about town persona. I love to recycle and create my own wardrobe, and these projects allow me to recycle and create. So with my generous shoulder and bag, I'm off to the charity/thrift shops to look for new finds. The only thing missing is a knitting project. Never leave home without your knitting!

Recreate the look of Major from Ghost in the Shell in #DIYTheLook with Emma.

I love this look as it is a cool futuristic look with a Japanese Manga edge.

Create a boho fairy look, perfect for a festival, in #DIYTheLook with Carla.

I love this feminine, fun, eclectic look! It's cool and comfy, yet flirty, and sexy, all in one outfit. It just works for me!

Recreate the style of Disney's Rapunzel in #DIYTheLook with Amy from CozyReverie.

I am a huge fan of the Disney version of Rapunzel. She is artistic, a dreamer, and an unwavering optimist. She basically defines springtime in a nutshell!

Recreate the Parisian look of legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel in #DIYTheLook with Kara from The Dressed Aesthetic.

I LOVE Chanel. I love her vibe, her clean lines and simplicity. I love that she was a hardcore business woman who established her own couturier and created one of the most stunningly successful clothing lines of the day (which still persists today). But mostly, I love her attitude. She had a philosophy about fashion, about the way women should dress to celebrate themselves.

Recreate the look of Janelle Monae in #DIYTheLook with Jen from Dressing With Class.

I have been a fan of Janelle Monae's music for years, but it's her style that I truly admire. She manages to take menswear to a feminine and glamorous place, and absolutely shines in black and white. Janelle looks chic on and off the red carpet - her hair is always done to perfection, and her makeup exudes a vintage elegance. I have styled a look with two options - heels and a skirt as well as pants and flats (for when it's time to dance!)

Recreate the look of Florence Welsh from Florence and the Machine in #DIYTheLook with LoupLou.

Why Florence, why not. She has to be one of those women that keep you guessing. Her style ranges from conservative to the bizarre. From fresh faced to full on glam rock. My personal favourite has to be her boho chic, although she really rocks vintage too. She's one of those women who'd wear a bin bag and get away with it.

Recreate the style of actress Kate Winslet in #DIYTheLook with Lydia from Sassy Sparrow.

I love Kate and her style so much. She is classic and beautiful and has this sort of innate grace and serenity that just rolls off of her and I think translates into her personal street style. She wears a lot of neutrals and her clothes seem relaxed and comfortable but also polished and classic!

Recreate the style of Audrey Hepburn in #DIYTheLook with Lindsey from Have Clothes, Will Travel.

Audrey Hepburn is always the first person who comes to mind for me when I think of a fashion icon. She is the epitome of classic and timeless style. It has been nearly 60 years since the release of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and yet, this is still an iconic and classy look that is emulated today.

Recreate the style of Zooey Deschanel in #DIYTheLook with Melissa Beth.

What I like about the Zooey style is that it is feminine but not overly girly. It's colorful and bold. The hair and makeup looks nice but not too high maintenance. The bracelets are a cute accent but are simple. Overall, it's just a fun and flirty look.
