You Can Make Any Pair of Shoes Gorgeous.
Here's a step-by-step guide on adding gold paint to your shoes. This technique works especially well for shoes of any fabric, but will also work for vinyl or leather shoes. It's a great way to dress up a pair of cheap flats (The ones here were a $7 special from H&M) or to cover up worn out bits of favourite shoes- if the toes are looking stained and worn, paint them gold!

Step 1: Gather your supplies. This isn't the time to use any old craft paint- get your cute bottom over to the art supply store and get the Pebeo all surface paint. You want the paint to stay on the shoes, right? One jar costs about $5, but prices will vary depending on your store.

You can totally freestyle with your paint, but if you have no skills in this area (like me), then get your masking tape (and cut it into thinner stripes. arrange on your shoes any way that you'd like. You'll notice on mine I have some jagged edges- I'm not painting those sides, so it's okay. The part that you ARE painting, make sure your tape is lined up nice and straight, and fully adhered to the shoe.

Apply a thin coat of gold paint in your taped off stripes. You will apply two coats, but it will look better if you paint it thinly. Thick paint will look weird when the tape comes off.

If you forgot to tape the back of your shoes at the beginning like I did, now is also a good time to tape them. same stripe rules apply- make sure the tape is even. if your stripes are meeting at the back seam of the shoe, take the time to get them lined up with the tape.

Once the paint is dry, carefully remove the tape and voila! You have gorgeous custom shoes. These are just some simple stripes, but if you want more after you are done, by all means repeat the steps all over again and add more. Or free style some polka dots, triangles, whatever you fancy!
