Mint Ice Cream Charm Tutorial

Hello everyone! I've finally gotten around to making a tutorial for all of you curious deviants. ^o^ It's my first tutorial so sorry if anything isn't clear. This is a technique I use, but I'm sure there are many other ways to make ice cream.

Please let me know if you use my tutorial. I'd love to see what you come up with! If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer as soon as possible, but if there are a bunch of the same question I'll just answer the first person so check out the comments just in case.

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

First you need to mix your clay. I used vanilla creme and regular green. You can use whatever you want, just get a color you like.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

    Mix, mix, mix.

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Keep mixing...

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

Now you have your solid mint color.

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Now to get the ice cream texture I pull the clay to the sides. As you pull you'll see this texture.

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

Now shape the ball into a half circle scoop shape with the textured part on top.

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

I squished it by accident here but next use an exacto knife to scrape the clay.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

Keep scraping all the way around your scoop until you get something like this.

  9. Step 9

    Step 9

It will look like this on the side. Use your finger to make the rounded edges.

  10. Step 10

    Step 10

Next mix your cone part. I used a little bit of red, yellow and tan. Mix until you get the right color.

  11. Step 11

    Step 11

Shape your cone clay into a little cylinder.

  12. Step 12

    Step 12

Use a tool to make the lines in the cone. I use a clay knife tool, it's thicker than an exacto knife.

  13. Step 13

    Step 13

Go all the way around making parallel lines.

  14. Step 14

    Step 14

Then do the same the opposite direction all the way around.

  15. Step 15

    Step 15

Stick your scoop on top of the cone.

  16. Step 16

    Step 16

Then mix your chocolate chips. I mix brown and black to make a dark chocolate color.

  17. Step 17

    Step 17

    Mix, mix, mix again.

  18. Step 18

    Step 18

Take a really teeny tiny bit of clay and make it as thin as possible.

  19. Step 19

    Step 19

Top your ice cream scoop with as much as you want.

  20. Step 20

    Step 20

Make a little wire loop and stick it in your charm.

  21. Step 21

    Step 21

YAY! You're done! Now you've got a tasty ice cream charm. Mix and match colors for more flavors. Happy crafting! :3
