Hello everyone! I've finally gotten around to making a tutorial for all of you curious deviants. ^o^ It's my first tutorial so sorry if anything isn't clear. This is a technique I use, but I'm sure there are many other ways to make ice cream. Please let me know if you use my tutorial. I'd love to see what you come up with! If you have any questions feel free to ask and I'll try to answer as soon as possible, but if there are a bunch of the same question I'll just answer the first person so check out the comments just in case.

Instructions

First you need to mix your clay. I used vanilla creme and regular green. You can use whatever you want, just get a color you like.

  2. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.24.46 1264973169

    Mix, mix, mix.

  3. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.24.52 1264973211

    Keep mixing...

Now you have your solid mint color.

Now to get the ice cream texture I pull the clay to the sides. As you pull you'll see this texture.

Now shape the ball into a half circle scoop shape with the textured part on top.

I squished it by accident here but next use an exacto knife to scrape the clay.

Keep scraping all the way around your scoop until you get something like this.

It will look like this on the side. Use your finger to make the rounded edges.

Next mix your cone part. I used a little bit of red, yellow and tan. Mix until you get the right color.

Shape your cone clay into a little cylinder.

Use a tool to make the lines in the cone. I use a clay knife tool, it's thicker than an exacto knife.

  13. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.33.57 1264973757

Go all the way around making parallel lines.

  14. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.36.29 1264973879

Then do the same the opposite direction all the way around.

  15. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.36.37 1264973989

Stick your scoop on top of the cone.

Then mix your chocolate chips. I mix brown and black to make a dark chocolate color.

  17. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.40.19 1264974081

    Mix, mix, mix again.

  18. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.40.26 1264974161

Take a really teeny tiny bit of clay and make it as thin as possible.

  19. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.40.34 1264974253

Top your ice cream scoop with as much as you want.

  20. Small screen shot 2010 01 31 at 21.40.41 1264974309

Make a little wire loop and stick it in your charm.

YAY! You're done! Now you've got a tasty ice cream charm. Mix and match colors for more flavors. Happy crafting! :3
