Based on Kimono by Brendan Oh.
I missed my favorite sale of the year and I was all pissy about it. Then I found I had a length of white fabric at the bottom of my fabric stash from the sale the year before. I've been wanting a kimono that fits me for ages. I have no idea why I didn't make one before now.
It's a lovely white fabric with 2 inch leaves on branches everywhere. It's fairly stiff and reminds me of formal outer kimono. It was easy to make.

The Obi was going to be a dusky green but I remember that fabric is to be used for another costume. But I did have fabric left over from my giant floor pillows in my living room. I think it came out better anyways! I came up with a very cool way to cheat with the obi. There are 2 layers of very stiff interfacing and boning in there, oh and cording too.

I hope to improve the false collars though. In the future I hope to dye the edges of the kimono and make different obis for each season.

This is very lovely but the way your kimono is crossed in the front illustrates that you are dead. Right over left for the living, left over right for the dead.

That's spectacular. I've been meaning to make my own kimono too, though, I would like a more reliable pattern than the one I have now. I'd also like to learn how to tie/make the components of the obi...
