Pretty Shrug that can be altered for anything!

I origionally wanted to cover the whole thing with flowers but I really like how it turned out. Its much more an art piece now than anything.

Crafts

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Start by measuring around your shoulders. My measurments were 39''.

  2. Step 2 2

With my fabric folded in half I cut out a long piece of fabric 32'' by 7''. You don't want your shrug to be exactly as wide as your shoulders or else it will be constantly falling off.

  3. Step 3 3

Fold your two ends together and round off the edge that is open.

  4. 4

Turn your right sides together. Pin your ribbon on the inside corners of the folded edge. I used about a total of 26'' of ribbon so I had plenty of room to tie by ribbon shut.

  5. Step 5 5

Sew around the edge of your shrug leaving a 2 inch gap for you to turn your shrug inside out. cut little slits along the rounded edge of your shrug so that when you turn it inside out it wont pucker.

  6. 6

Turn rightside out and iron flat. Top stitch around entire shrug, being careful to close the hole you had left open.

  7. Step 7 7

Once you have done with that you can decorate your shrug however you want or wear it as it is. I made my roses by pulling apart fabric flowers and sewing buttons in the center. I then used a hot glue gun to sew pearls and to make dew drops.

  8. Step 8 8

I did the same with the smaller flowers but used pearls for the center instead of buttons. I wouldn't normally use hot glue on a feather but I did this time. I also carefully glued little pearl beads to the feather with the help of my tweasers.

  9. Step 9 9

I sewed the lace on and did a wip stitch with embroiderly floss on the edge of the lace for the trip. I glued an old rhinestone belly chain on the top and glued the blue bow and sewed the buttons on.
