how to change a old bike into a wooly rainbow
how to yarnbomb a bike... technique can be used to yarnstorm anything..
you need to be able to crochet and to make pom-poms!

This bike was yarnstormed by me ( @calamitycrochet )and @ladycassandra84 with pom-poms by @laurita_king .

  • Step 1

    Take bike apart, the wheels and chain need to be removed from the bike (you can skip this step but the rest of the yarnbomb will be tricky).

    Then wash any parts of the bike which are dirty.

    Step 2

    Create strips to cover the wheels and we also made butterfly and flowers to sew onto the wheels.

    Sew the crochet to the wheels

    Step 3

    Crochet strips to cover each of the bars on the body of the bike. Sew these together to cover the whole of the bike.

    Step 4

    Use amigurumi to cover the handle bars (I used a rainbow colours).

    Step 5

    Make lots of pom poms and use them to cover the bike seat. This was done by crisscrossing lots of wool over the top of the seat and then tying the pom poms to the wool.

    Step 6

    Use amigurumi to make gloves for the bikes peddles.

    Step 7

    If your bike has a stand make a stripe to go around it. We made ours into a flower.

    Then you are done...enjoy your bike :)

I love yarn bombing, it awesome what you did to your bike. Here in the US they host a local craft meeting just for yarn bombing at the craft & folk art museum monthly.
