For those dark fall days

I had an oversized cardigan that I took in, only I took it in a little too much so then I had to find a creative way to let it out. This is what I came up with.

Instructions

  1. Step 1 1

Start with the cardigan you want to make over.

  2. Step 2 2

Mine was too long so I marked with tailors chalk and a straight edge where I wanted to cut it off at.

  3. Step 3 3

After removing th excess fabric I folded my sweater so my side seams met up and marked a half circle shape.

  4. Step 4 4

    Cut out your half circle.

  5. Step 5 5

Using the pieces you just cut out make templates for your side pannels. I decided to make mine in a vibrant red.

  6. Step 6 6

I cut mine out larger than the original so that I had more stretch.

  7. Step 7 7

I then took the fabric I had originally cut off from the bottom and cut strips to make a "ruffle". I pinned and sewed the ruffle onto my side pannels.

  8. Step 8 8

Carefully pin your side pannel into place- make sure you pinned it correctly before you sew.

  9. Step 9 9

It should look like this once you've sewn it into place. Finish by hemming the bottom and you're done!
