I enjoy creating DIY from items found all around me. When I found a lovely piece of cedar bark I couldn't resist creating a wearable treasure.

    Step 1

    Select a piece of bark (I used cedar)

  • Step 2

    Apply a dense coat of mod podge to the outer portion of the bark
    Allow to dry

    Cut out your heart. (The mod podge will help make this a easier process)

    Step 4

    Apply mod podge to the inner portion of the bark heart. This will ensure the little wood fragments to not move
    Allow to dry

    Step 5

    Take a pin back and apply hot glue
    Apply to the outer portion of heart and hold

how thick should the wood be?

I would say somewhere between 1/8 and a 1/4 of an inch, but not too think as the bark tends to crack easier. Hope it helps!
