Protect your feelings with a barb wire wrapped heart necklace.

I made this for my Valentine's Day Swap partner Alicia. I hope she likes it.

Instructions

  1. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 1 1

Cut two long strands of silver jewellery wire and twist together.

  2. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 2 2

    Make two of these.

  3. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 3 3

    Twist together at one end.

  4. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 4 4

Place some pliers in between the two tales and then twist, to create a loop.

  5. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 5 5

Continue this along the length of the wire.

  6. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 6 6

Cut short lengths of wire and wrap around the twisted areas in between the loops. Point either end of the wire up, so that they look like barbs.

  7. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 7 7

Cover a baking tray in tin foil, lay down a heart shaped candy / cookie cutter and fill with pony beads, so that they spread out nice and evenly. Remove one of the beads and replace with a metal eyelet.

  8. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 8 8

Melt down the beads in an oven, this should take around 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and quickly stick the barb wire on top of the beads so that it sinks in to the plastic a little. Allow to cool.

  9. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 9 9

Press the heart out from the cutter and remove any plastic that may have seeped inside of the eyelet (I used an eyelet punch to knock the plastic out).

  10. How to fuse a melted bead necklace. Barb Wire Wrapped Heart Necklace - Step 10 10

Thread some cord through the eyelet and your necklace is ready to wear.
