How To Crochet On The Third Loop

Learn how-to crochet on the third loop with Adriana from Bowties and Fezzes and then make her chunky faux ribbed crochet cowl.

  Step 1

  Make 1 round of HDC, which will look like this

  Step 2

  Now, to achieve the ribbed effect, you will crochet on the side bar shown in blue, not at the top of your previous stitches as you would normally do

• 

  Step 3

  So you will not crochet here!

• 

  Step 4

  wrap the yarn around your hook (as you would in a normal HDC) and insert it into the side loop as shown in the picture

• 

  Step 5

  from the top, it will look like this

• 

  Step 6

  complete the stitch by wrapping the yarn around your hook once more and pulling it through all the stitches in the hook and you're done!
