dumb question!

what sort of things can i use to draw on shrink plastic (ie markers, pencil..)?

Depending on the shrink plastic you have lots of choices. Shrinky Dinks makes a frosted kind that you can use colored pencil or watercolor paints on.
If you're shrinking plastic other than that, usually markers like sharpie or crayola.
Just remember that the colors get darker and richer as the plastic shrinks, so go a shade or two lighter.

oh larger pieces of shrink plastic ,I have used very thin coats of
acrylic paint.You have to almost just slide it over in a very thin coat , or when its baked it all bunches up, but i have made some nice pieces using acrylic's. I used it on 2 in bear(after shrinking it was 2 in) and it turned out great.
