A rant about my boyfriend's work... no need to read.

Arg! I can't believe it! First of all he worked all week on a busted ankle, cause he hates inactivity, and than they screw him over by making him work the weekend shift as well! But that isn't enough, not only has he worked more than seven days now, and still two more 12 hour shifts to go, but he was only suppose to work the four hour shift tonight, instead the put him onto a 12 hour one, AFTER he gets to work. So he only had a lunch for a 4 hour, only an hour of sleep since he last got off work, and he has more shifts to do! Yes, he's young and spry, but at this rate he'll be dead before our 2 year anniversary from being over worked! And theres a chance he works most of next week! when will he get his day off? I mean, it's great he's getting so much money, because it is a mill job and all, but SERIOUSLY, get someone else to work! He needs the break! He's tried and all. And he's worked morning shift all week and he is a late sleeper, and cant possibly get to sleep before 2am, and if he lays in bed before than he's up every hour or ten minutes! Than he has to be to work by eight, and he walks everywhere, so he has to leave the house by seven! He's sooo exhausted! and he only has eight hours between the shift he's on the the shift he works after it! He's like a walking pissed off zombie right now, hardly anything in that skull but angry and extreme tiredness. And it's making me upset because he's so angry at them right now its coming off at me, so I'm getting mad back and it's just horrid right now! and I'm trying to be understanding, but my sleep pattern is all messed up now to because of the mill (by the way i pretty much live at my boyfriends house, thats why my sleep pattern is messed up, is because i have to sleep when he sleeps else i keep him up!) I hardly sleep right now because he is also so angry that he can't clam down to sleep! ARG! It's so unfair!

Thats a bad situation to get into for him. Once you start to yes to overtime, they get angry with you for not doing more 
Is there no way, he can just say no to it? Would they fire him if he did?
My boyfriend and I work together and say no to any overtime, we just hate the place so much we don't want to spend extra time there! Doesn't matter that we would make more money, we love and need our days off to chill.
I hope he sorts it out, because working so much is not good especially if he is having trouble sleeping anyway!

He could, but than he might not get work for days or weeks, and as we are both living off his paychecks right now he cant afford to do that. Which sucks And he's at this half way point in work. At his work, the first few months you are hired your on call to replace to the people that call in sick and what not, and than after so many hours you become full time. He's at this half way point where he's on call and he's on shifts that need an extra pair of hands i so worried about him.
Yes I understand, he can't really say no at this time That does suck. Do they not understand that he needs a break though!? I never understand how managers/owners can allow that kind of thing. ALthough when I worked in a mushroom farm, it was the same. He would have had us in there every day all day if he could have gotten away with it. As I always remember him saying" mushrooms never stop growing" ahhh
I know it wont help much, but make sure your boyfriend is getting lots of vitamins and eating right when he can eat. Not relying on caffeine too much either, as that will make him more like a zombie too
He's a health nut, and won't take caffeine as much as possible. And he has a weird thing that drugs and such do the opposite that do to most people (example: a painkiller puts him in more pain, and coffee makes him tired) So he doesn't take it, but i think he might be calling in "sick" to the next shift to get more sleep. And because he's ankle has gotten way worse because they have him on the job he isn't suppose to be one (he's on dryer 3, which is all walking standing stuff with the wet wood, while he should be on Comp 2 which as him sitting and pressing buttons!) And there are Foremens, not managers, that handle his time, and the weekend shift is a bunch of asses! They bring in all the kids that have worked a lot and not the ones that have no time on their list yet for the week, or they put someone on one thing, another at the next break, and trades the person around as long as people with higher sonority wants the job he has.
Well I think calling in sick is a good idea He can recharge his system. Hopefully that will sort hi out for a while until his ankle gets better

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ARG! I am so mad! One of the foremen threated to fire him because his ankle got bad and he's sicker than hell!! AHH! I am tottally gettting my boyfriend to talk to his union reps about this! ARG!

Oh me to. It's stressing me out that they keep questioning him because he's young, and believe he's trying to get out of work, he's not like most guys his age, he's responsible, but he's working around big machinery, and there has been deaths from those machinery. So he's playing safe by not going in when he can barely walk, and is a little tipsy. it bugs me so much.
I am so mad, again.
Ok, so he went into work today, he ended up really sick from Wood Mold, and they bitched him out for calling in sick and because his ankle got really bad last night. And they all talking about how he should wuit for being such an ass, and the foremen that yelled at him is claiming that my boyfriend was yelling and cursing at him. And because its a foremen verses a new guy (boyfriend) their believing the foremen over him, But the foremen was the one that called up all anally.

*I pick up phone." hello?
*ass hole foreman* May I talk to Andrew Randall Please *that growlly voice of angry people*
ME: He's sick, may i take a message?
Foreman: This is About WORK, Put him on the phone *same bitchy attitude*
MeL*sighs and passes phone to andrew *
(boyfriend), who is really sick and can barely talk about a whisper*
Andrew: Hello *raspy whisper*
A bunch of stuff that ended up with Andrew trying to defend himself that he is sick, and he is sore, than the foreman threatens to fire him.
Andrew :The wood mold makes me sick, I'm sorry, and my ankle does hurt, but if your going to fire me over it i guess i have to come in
Foremen: Well If your really sick we dont want you coming into just to go hom
Me : Andrew, give me the phone.
Andrew passes me phone, and curls up on bed wheezing
Me: Excuse me Sir, but he is really sick.
Foreman hangs up.
I AM SOOOOOOOOO PISSED OFF BECAUSE OF THIS? WHAT RIGHT DO THEY HAVE TO FRIST QUESTION IF HE'S REALLY SICK? THAN TELL HIM NOT TO COME IN IF HE'S SICK YET TRY AND MAKE HIM COME IN AT THE SAME TIME! THAN WHEN HE GETS TO WORK THEY BITCH HIM OUT FOR NOT COMING IN! AND TELL HIM IF HE QUITS THEY'LL BE THE FRIST ON TO BOOT HIS ASS OUT THE DOOR!

It's a lame-o saying but if you don't have your health, you don't have anything.
It honestly isn't worth talking to people like that.
My old job from 3 years ago tried to pull that crap. Had me on an 11 day shift and promised to change it. I thought if I worked hard went above and beyond the call of duty they might respect me. Nope. I'm just another worker and the moment I realized it I left for better things and a place that could use my skills.
The ONLY way people like that ever learn is if you up and leave. And a lot of the time, even that doesn't send a wake up call.
he would quit, one problem, my town is running down (we are a logging town and with so much of the US economy falling we are crashing to the ground) and that is the only place in town where you can get enough money to live off of without having to drive 10 hour to and from work.
