Post Office Closure-?fightback

They did that where I live, I heard it was because the Post can't afford to stay open, 1st "Video Killed the Radio Star" and now... "Internet killed the Post Office"...But I could be wrong. We also don't have Post Offices in our Malls here...Good Luck.

I have never seen a post office in the mall either. But, I have heard the post office has lost a lot of money. Funny that UPS and the like are doing good... But, I don't like them. They will just put the package right on your door step, they don't even give me a chance to open the door. They are suppose to have you sign it! I don't know how many times they have left $100's of dollars worth of stuff right on my front steps. Ugh.

Do you have a lot of post offices around you? Or was the one in the mall the only one? I have 4 post offices in my general area...

there was one that closed not too far from me, because of budget cuts. i don't understand why they just don't cut mail delivery on Saturday. lots of countries don't have post on the weekend and they seem to be doing fine. sorry, hope you don't have to drive to far now to the post office!

The big thing is I don't drive.
Will take an hour and half at least to walk to bus and get to Post Office.The mall is surrounded by condo's lots of the people there don't drive either.
Am taking my driving test this fall so hopefully soon I'll be able to drive.Will be checking out if I can prepay boxes tomorrow-can also learn to do online.

This is terrible. "Big Brother" forgets that more than just large companies have packages to send!!

Good Luck Debs. I don't drive either and our Post Office is a ways from us. I depend on my husband to mail my packages. It's a hassle, and I need to look into getting a printer and getting my postage online and having the mailman take it. But I think that it is awful that of all the things they could close they decide to start with the Post Offices... I wish you the best with it though. Take Care and Have a Good Day.

Here in the UK they've closed LOADS of our post offices around the country, pretty much claiming that they are losing money because people are e-mailing and texting more blah blah blah. They haven't closed any of my local ones but there ways controversy over it some time ago.

I DID IT -passed my theory test and have set a driving test date!

Passed the driving test today-first time.Never did even get a response from the Postmaster.At least I can now take myself to the post office

Here in Germany we have got post offices in every village and city. But sometimes they aren't real post offices, it can be that you hand your baker your letters or go to the petrol station ... real post offices are in the bigger cities only, but also this "special post offices" normally know what to do ... the bad thing only ... our high costs when I wanna ship something abroad.
