TWO FACED Teachers!?!?!

ok so Yesterdy was the start of my new semester in junior college,i been there two semesters before and one art class inparticular that i have now was with the same teacher i had last year.
there is a two hour gap between my art class and my math class. I have math first. so i tohught to go to the bookstore[located downstairs] and get my supplies 4 art class

to my extreme horror. the line was like 50 ppl long! [trust me it was wrapped around the whole downstairs the previous day so 50 ppl was a blessing] so i was last in lineas people accumulatedthe line continued to move a few steps every 7 minutes or so like clock work so i assumed i was going to be late 4 class but the line was moving at a steady pace so i was like "why not wait? its the first day"

at 12 45 [which was when my clas started]i was the 10th person in line id be stupid to leave at that point. At 1:30 i was finnally in there and out . now im not saying i deserve to be late or that tardyness should betolerated. i think REPEATED tardyness shouldent be tolerated im a pretty responsible student mostly As with a B here and there.

so i rushed to class with my bags from the book store in hand and took a seat. all my teacher was doing was go over the syllabus then she wanted to express her new"zero tollerence tardy policy" which is simply after 12 45 , shes locking her door. she gave a long speech and stared me straight in the eye for anout 60 seconds while she said it as if nobody was aware that i was late untill that moment. now i felt offended by that for two reasons

number one, last year she was deemed "a soft teacher" and really never gained control of her class let people show up late ect BUT I was always the FIRST PERSON THERE [in some cases the only person there] ON TIME.

number 2 we have an art club in shich she s a supervisor and again im the person tht shows up all the time

ok not to say im supposed to be treated special or anything but i couldnt hepl but be offended by her staring me down like i was a bad student because i was late ONE DAY

ok so does anybody feel me on this?

well it seems like she was making an example out of you.

It almost seems as though she feels, since you are normally so responsible, and you seem like you could be a "favorite" student of hers, that she HAS to make an example out of you.... or even that you might understand her doing it to you in particular?

wow. that sucks.
at one side, an example is nessecary. otherwise, her class will probably be pure chaos(again?)
and she can't really have fave students or she'll get in trouble with other students and stuff
at the other side, you're (i think) a good student, responsible, and you were late because you had to get things for that class, and also, you can't help the long line.
i think its just bad luck, really. i am tardy often, but unless i run into mr. apple(no thats not his real name its a fake one.) on my way to class and are forced by him to get a tardy note(and you only get punished if you've gotten one) i usually am like, half a min ute late and the teacher lets me in anyways.
if i am forced to get a note at the counter(some teachers won't let you in the class unless you have one of those) i have to speak to the head lady of my division. i dunno what its called in english. for some reason, everytime i'm tardy i have to speak with her on mondays. if you speak with her after being tardy, she'll let you come to school 20 minutes before first hour of class begins the next day. so with me, allmost always on tuesdays
which is fine, if only i would not have the first 2 hours of school free every tuesday! so every time i have to sit at school, with nothing to do, for 2 hours.
and to me the head lady says she can't help it that i have to wait 2 hours, while others can come to school early a day later when they don't have to wait for 2 hours? she just dislikes me.

I wouldn't take it too seriously. She had to say or do something to show the rest of the class that she's not a 'softie', and to enforce what she had just said. So smile and take it with a pinch of salt.
Btw you and me - I'm a teacher (so i should know!) LOL!!

I wouldn't worry about it. Like everyone said, she had to make an example and show that she was serious about her rules.
It was just one class, if like you say you're usually always on time, it will most likely be forgotten soon.

And if all this frustration gets to you, just remember, you won't be in school forever. One day you'll be able to look back on these days with a chuckle ;)

well thank you all of you. i just needed to say something top somebody about it rather than snapping on her [and getting kicked out] im a pretty responsible girl and it just caught me off guard and if i brought i to her she wuld thin i think i deswerve special treatment and thats not the case so thanks you guys

I agree with everyone who has said that 1) if you are good, it doesn't mean she can have 'favourites' and let you get away with stuff 2) if she is trying to not be soft anymore (a GOOD thing, she doesn't have to put up with nonsense forever just because she was less confident last year) she needs to show people she can be tough.

Plus, as you are a good student it will be worse if you went off the rails and failed than if a total loser who was always going to fail. Take it as a compliment- she obviously thinks it's a terrible thing if you fail/miss any of the class. It would be worse if she didn't notice if you think about it!

well Roxy, we know that you will not do that again, did you talk to her about it? Just tell her why you were late?

lol As soon as i read the title of this, i thought of my insane College Sculpture teacher.
And when i read urs was ALSO a art teacher. i lol'd. XD

But yeah, i think she was just makin an example out of you. Dont worry about it. & if she's still givin you the evil-eye, try to get on her good side. By tryin to strike up a funny conversation, or ask her opinion or help on classwork. & tell her the day before that you might be late to class, so she knows you really care. Happy

But my Sculpture teacher i think SERIOUSLY had a split personality. no joke. He would be all buddy-buddy with all of us one day, crackin jokes and stuff ...then the next day, he would yell at us & tear us all down. & we would leave daily, just scratching out heads, tryin to figure him out. lol
& he once told me he LOVED my sculpture & could see a lot of them in a gallery ....Then the next day he gave me a C on it. O.o
Me & all my classmates left his class at the end of the year, double confused. lol

Maybe art teachers are just super "particular" & eccentric. lol U really have to get used to them & their weirdness. Especially when u take more serious art classes. All artists are fairly crazy.

I agree, most art teachers and artists are eccentric, I know I am

Haha I wouln't just limit it to ART teachers. My maths teacher was CRAAAAAAAZY!! He was never really nice to us, however the majority of the times he came into class he look like he's just had a spliff, his eyes were blood shot and half open and his reactions were really slow. He particularly hated my little group and the guy who was i or group kept getting sent out of the class for really stupid reasons. Don't worry about them cutting into you like that. Just worry about yourself, I mean I know it was seen to be out of order, but you aren't friends with them and you won't be controlled or under their wing or whatever for long so you just do what you have to do to do well at school.
