Aw honey I'm sorry to hear about this, think about putting him down for the sake of his health, rather than the light of this recent incident. He's had a rough start in life and despite being compleatly and utterly loved by you, his quality of life is affected due to his poor health.

Of course it is upsetting and you have every right to cry and it might make you feel better to do this, after all you loved him very much and saved him from the awful harsh treatement he previously received. Spend as much quality time with him, take pictures if you want. As sad as it is, we will all pass at some point or another.

I get sad when I think about my cat Lolly dying, she's 13 now so it'll be sooner rather than later.

In the meantime, you always have you supportive network of friends here on CO+K.
