michelle, basically it´s "wollen wir brieffreunde sein?" but it sounds very formal and dowdy(to me), you could try "Wie wäre es, wenn wir Brieffreunde werden?" or just "Lass uns doch Briefe schreiben!" as well Happy
just out of curiosity, why do you want to learn german?
and for learning/understanding, i watch dvds in english and german subtitles to improve my english, maybe you could try the opposite!

I was born in Germany (Gutersloh) and lived in several places in Germany over a period of 12 years before moving to England..

But I can barely speak a word of the language =C They tried teaching me in school but I never saw the point as all of my friends spoke english.

Thats something I really regret now, and I've been meaning to learn again for several years, but things keep getting in the way.

Well, I took the advice on this thread and today watched batman: dark knight in German to try and pick up a few extra words.

I found that German audio with English subtitles I cant really differentiate where one word ends and the other begins, due to the speed and flow of the script, besides I tended to just pay attention to the subtitles and I may as well have been deaf for all I heard Lol

And in English with German subs worked a bit better but i still found myself just zoning out and overlooking the subtitles, Im quite good at forgetting they are there.

I did however pick up a few more words, they are completely random and Ive just picked these up really for the frequency of their use.

Ive figured "Ritter" is "knight" and "Toten" is either death, (to) die, or dead.. somewhere along those lines lol. Im not too sure about the second one though.

I dont know how they are going to help me in random conversation but at least thats two more words, right? Im guessing if I pick up a few words with every movie thats a big bonus to what I know now, which is mainly just basics.

Ive also signed up to the BBC thing someone suggested on here. Woot, ive finally got off my ass and actually started learning again, now maybe I can go back to Germany at some point and visit all my old home towns...
