Too Much Stuff!

So, I am on day 2 of re-organizing my craft stuff, and I am still not finished! I have soooo much stuff, it is unbelievable!!

I was wondering am I the only one out there that maybe goes a tad bit overboard with buying, trading, and inheriting craft stuff?

Oh, and as soon as I am done with it, I will post some before and after pics. (=

Tara - I've just finished a whole day's tidying spree in my craft room. The best bit is finding stuff you forgot you had or didn't realise you had left Happy It makes me very, very happy! Happy x

Tara, brilliant thread Happy I have sooooo much stuff squirrelled away. I have all my jewellery making kit in one cupboard. I've taken over the dresser in the lounge and under my bed there is so much fabric. I have ongoing projects at the side of my couch and the dining room table hasn't been seen for a while as my sewing machine and craft boxes have hidden it. Boy I must be hard to live with! Ooo.....forgot, the spare room is mine too....Funny though, I know where everything is....LOL

Well, I spent £20 alone on craft paper for making cards yesterday.... Does that count? And I've got bags of fabric and other bits sitting around, ready to be made into costumes, all over the back of the kitchen Happy

Oh god, no. You're not the only one! My problem is that no matter what I -want- to work on, I never have all the items for. So I go and buy more. Then sometimes I'm just fickle. I'll plan something and buy all the components... and then just not feel like doing it any more. xD
My friend Eden and I are going to raid each others' craft supplies because we're both sick of everything we own.

Synthetic, I know I found all kinds of stuff I forgot!

Sheila, you sound exactly like me. Until I pulled everything out I had stuff in the buffet table, on my craft desk, and shelves, behind the couch, the dining room table was covered, and stuff in the garage! Oh and not to mention the craft closet filled to the brim with stuff. The only thing I have left now is to sort through my fabric.

Louise, that totally counts because that is how it starts!

Lola, I am the same way too I think that is how I have accumulated so much stuff. And I am jealous because I have no crafty friends other than all of you ladies on here. I would love to swap craft goodies with out having to send them out.

I don't have lots of Crafty related bits and peices, but in general I have sooo many clothes and jewellry and stuff that I own its madness. I would love to do what Gok Wan does, you know getting local woman together putting all the clothing they no longer want on rails and swapping with people and making other people look sexy and confident and stuff!!!

Although I do have in a drawer under my bed loads of old wrapping paper from birthdays that I thought was too precious to throw out and loads of wallpaper samples of pretty wallpaper that I took from B&Q!!

I'm such a horder with general everyday stuff. Like I still have folders of all my notes from my GCSE's, my two years of A-Levels & my three years of my degree. They all fit into my ottoman - even though it's meant for bedsheets and stuff

Does the wrapping paper/wallpaper stuff count by any chance?

Yeah, I'm there and I was thinking that when we moved and got a shed outside to turn into my craft room, that lil thing still isn;t holding all my craft stuff. I have some in the house too that lives on the kitchen table that I try to keep clear for actual eating purposes. I have a shelf full of stuff then there's space over the washer and dryer with stuff and lets not forget lil nooks and cranies in the bedroom. I have more craft stuff than anything else I own. I didn't realize that until I was packing it all up when moving. Once I went through some stashes of stuff and packed a box of it that I no longer wanted or needed and gave it to my nieces when we went to visit, they loved it. Future crafters!!!
And yeah, I wish too I had local crafty friends to craft and swap with. no such luck though.

Lola I TOTALLY agree with you: there's a moment when you have THE idea but don't have that specific "ingredient" so you rush out to buy it and once you're back home you don't feel like craftig any more... :p

Same here...I had a large office table i my room wich I used as crafting area, but it was impossible to craft on it because it was filled with my stuff..
Now I redone my hole room,so I threw out the table and have no space for my crafting stuff at all.I have a little cupboard stuffed with paper, embroidery floss, glue, tape and a hole bunch of stuff that could become something one day.I have loads of shoe boxes filled with beads,my fabric scraps barely fit under the bed and I have a big basket filled with yarn that keeps spilling all over my room.

I always craft on the floor,so I leave a big mess all over the place.
My luck is that we only have one craft store and its very very very expensive so its rare that I buy stuff that I can replace with something cheaper.Mostly I buy earring hooks, paper napkins, decoupage glue and shrink plastic.
But I find my way to get my paws on stuff... Happy I buy cheap necklaces that I dont like, tear them apart and I have another shoe box filled with beads. Happy

But I refuse to throw out anything! Happy

Violetta I do the same with beads. I get them from junk shops and charity shops. I take them apart and store them in small jam jars. They get everywhere, especially with kids and cats. I don't know how many I have vaccumed up over the years Happy
I have a beading tray with compartments and start out with good intentions to keep the beads seperated while working on designs. I get part way through, decide I want to change it and put the bead back in it's right bit, but as time goes on they creep into the wrong ones to the point were I go hunting for one I previously discarded. Does anyone else suffer this crafting affliction?

Ohmigosh my dining table is never free from junk. I tidy it up occasionally but you can guarantee minutes later it'll be piled on with junk. The same goes with my ottoman, there's books and papers and junk on top of that too!!

I forgot to mention in the corner or my room I have two big black sacks of my friends old clothes, she said I could sew them an do what I liked with them, so they are my crafty clothes to practice on. It's annoying because it's really difficult to get into my wardrobe because the black sacks of clothes are in the way lol.

My room is sort of sorted, like you can see most of my bedroom floor and it's clean, but any shelves or tables or anything that you can put stuff on has stuff on it lol

I'm with you Violetta, I find it really hard to throw stuff out.
