I want a pet

I'd love a chinchilla! I want to get a lizard so bad, but I could never feed it. I feel bad for the crickets!

Another animal I forgot to mention is a chameleon. They're awesome! Most chameleons don't like being handled, but I know panther chameleons love being held. My guitar teacher breeds chameleons. They're gorgeous animals, but require a lot of maintenance.

You could get a taranchula! I wanted to get one but my roomate is teffified of spiders so that was a no-go.

I ended up getting a female syrian calico hamster. Her name is Mo... Short for Mozart. hahaha I agree, she doesn't smell although her cage will smell for a while after she pees and it's still fresh. The little bugger always pees in her cage as soon as I clean it and put her back! But the cage itself doesn't stink if you clean it out nicely. Also, I bought her tons of stuff to chew on and she wont use them but she'll chew on her cage for hours! I bought her a dried and empty coconut shell to chew on and sleep in and she will climb on top of it but she wont go in the thing. I also got her a salt lick and those sticks that are all full of grains and seeds and she wont eat either of them! I don't know what to do to get her to stop chewing on the bar. She's been chewing on it for a year and half in the same spot and now the paint is gone there >< little bugger.

But I got carried away here. Hamsters can be nice pets because they are super cute but you have to work a while on hand taming them so that they wont be afraid and bite.

I was thinking about getting a hedgehog but I read that they can be tricky to care for. I read that they need to be kept at a good temperature at all times and if it gets too cold you should put a heating pad beside the cage or something like that. Also since they run a lot their little feet can bleed AND you have to get them a big, sturdy wheel because they are heavy enough to make the wheel tip over and you shouldn't get them a wheel with gaps because their little legs will fall through the bars and they will hurt themselves.

I would say to get a dwarf rabbit instead. They can be litter trained and since their poop doesn't smell the litter box wont smell like it does for a cat. You can let them out in your house, they live for 14 years and they stay small. My friend has a dutch bunny and he's so adorable I am always tempted to steal him everytime I visit. Hahaha

Ferret all the way! I have a little ferret girl and I love her so much! They're the perfect blend of cat and dog and they're small. Ours has so much personality! And they do the "weasel war dance" and it's adorable. That's where my vote goes!

Man, that makes me want a rat. So scared to take care of small animals like that, my mice died so fast and I was devastated. :x Your rat looks adorable!

The best pet i have ever had my entire life (and ive had every species imaginable) ...is a Bearded Dragon.
Get One! (if your not afraid of lizards). They look badass (and a lil scary to some), but they are the tamest and friendliest animals i have ever come in contact with. They are not mean/unhappy ever. Mine even got depression/stopped eating when i went to college, & we had to move him into the living room so he could see people. XD I've had mine maybe 9 years, and hes the love of my life. His name is Bruce. lol

POS: They dont grow very big, NEVER bite or get mad at all, very sociable (they recognize their owners/ mine even cuddles up to me and sleeps... yes a lizard does that!), dont smell, like to be held & run around, they look super cool.

NEG: (none of these are negs to me, but to some people they are)
You feed them live crickets daily, u scoop up their poo and skin when they shed (u dont have to touch it), they need a BIG tank (i think mines 45 inchs long) ...because of this some of their supplies in the beginning are pricey (they need lots of stuff like heat lamp/rocks to climb etc.), but theyre very inexpensive pets afterwards.

Mine is on his deathbed now ....im regreting the day he goes. Hes the best pet ive ever had. Happy
You wont regret it once you get one. If anyone needs info on them, just ask. ;)

I'd recommend rats they are fantastically smart, very affectionate and crave human contact and are best if you get them in same sex pairs rather than having one on its own. They do require regualr cleaning of cage and handling so they are friendly and used to human contact. Also they need things to occupy them, they get bored very easily and can get quite destructive when bored.

I also recommend a cat if you want a pet thats small and requires little maintenance just obviously regular feeding and love. I've got a cat and am now adopting a gorgeous dog and they are in my opinion easier to keep than smaller animals. But with all animal you get what you put in, if you love it and treat it well it will be an awesome and rewarding thing.

I would definitely suggest a cat! I've got one now, and she's really sweet! They're pretty low maintenance, unless it uses a cat box. But then you just have to clean it out when the cat won't use it anymore (few times). Depending on hair length they may shed and cause some allergy issues, but that's mainly just with longhaired cats (at least for me). As long as you treat them well, they make wonderful pets.
