Crafty boys unite!

I know the girls are premium crafters but I get so excited when the boys catch the fever too. I made a lot of my Xmas gifts this year for my friends and my husband does not consider himself a artsy/crafty type fellow. I crochet while he plays board games with his buddies. But I'll tell you ladies, it was a special day when I came upstairs and found him working on the computer playing with Photoshop. "What're ya doin'?" I asked. And he says he got the idea to make some t-shirts for his gaming buddies for Xmas. So over the week he goes and buys the iron-on transfer paper to print his designs on and packages of iron-on letters and a bunch of t-shirts and next thing I know he's standing in the dining room with the iron asking for help with his project. I almost cried. It was the most special thing to see my man get crafty all by himself with no suggestions or urging from me. My baby's a craft man. (Of course, don't tell him I said that.) He wants to start brewing his own beer and we've discussed beginning to keep bees (Some of Nature's finest lil crafters!). Anyway, I guess what I'm saying is there are all kinds of great "man" crafts out there and I love hearing about enthusiastic fella's making goodies. I bought a subscription of Make Magazine for I guy I work with that's shown some interest in some of the things I make to show him that there are cool man crafts out there. (You know those beer-can lamps aren't gonna make themselves.) Historically, men have been some of them finest crafters and I want to see a resurgence of men that are proud of making things other than babies.(Not that there's anything wrong with that!) The crafting community is not just a girl's place, it belongs to anyone that enjoys making things and sharing their enthusiasm for the things they make with others. Crafty boys unite!

I totally agree besides guys can make girly things as presents for the women in their lives. A lot of the things on CO&K guys can make but can make it more manly. Like using blue instead of pinks.

One of the things I love about CO+K is that there are lots of projects that are not gender-specific. Dalek cupcakes spring to mind. Guaranteed to make any geek-boy want to get crafty.

i wish some boys in my school would be crafty instead of waste all their time on trying to be manly......
