How did you find CO+K and why did you join?

A few years ago I visited a Dutch blog called HobbyBlogo. They featured a project on Cut Out & Keep and I started browsing the site. When I saw the wealth of creativity there I felt the need to favorite stuff and signed up. Quickly I decided to share some of my work too.

What projects are you currently working on?

I'm currently turning an empty detergent jug into a faery house by wet-felting. I'm planning on needle-felting on a lot of details and spicing things up with beads, buttons and more. It will be a long term project which will only be finished when I'm completely satisfied.
I'm crocheting snow flakes, during meetings with friends, for use on my next belly dance costume in purple/light-blue/silver tones.
I'm planning on making a 3D faery skeleton/remains model for in a frame. I'm collecting dead bugs for that at the moment.
And I'm helping my boyfriend with making a new winter coat. I prepared the decorative piping and made the pockets. He's got a lot of fabric left over and my Muse is telling me that I could make a dress or coat out of it for myself. But only after I made a matching hat and gloves to the winter coat

What does your craft space look like?

The felting I do takes place on the counter top in the kitchen, on which I always have to make room. It's conveniently close to the kettle and the surface is waterproof.
However, we have a very nice crafting room in the attic with a desk for 2 sewing machines, a desk where my boyfriend can do soldering projects, and a desk for paper crafts like making greeting cards or beading work. And lots of storage space. It's a room for both me and my boyfriend. He's just as good at sewing as I am and he makes his own winter coat and costumes for live roleplay.

I've included some pictures, here's what you see on them. (number 1 is the least interesting)
1 - Above the radiator, just behind the door, we have a big whiteboard for jotting down ideas, making calculations etc.
2 - A corner desk gives me a place to work on greeting cards, jewelry making and other small projects. It's flanked by two stacked dressers which are full of crafting supplies, really close at hand.
3 - A place for my boyfriend where he can solder his own little projects. It's a bit cluttered since he tends to collect all kinds of 'could be useful'-s but doesn't get around to tidying up very often. ;-) The mural of the cats on the fence was done by me.
4 - The Wall of Fabric, with in the front the new winter coat of my boyfriend; work in progress. There's fabric in nearly all of those boxes. There's one box with 'to do' stuff, a box of feathers and pieces of rabbit fur (out of reach of our cats) and a box with sewing patterns. Some haberdashery and yarn in the smaller boxes. Nothing is labeled, but I have a pretty good idea where to find stuff.
5 - Another view of the Wall of Fabric. And a better look at the second mural I did there. Took me about 3 full time days to finish this one. The style is Rosina Wachtmeister and the coloring of the cats is based on our two cats.
6 - The sewing desk. In the photo my boyfriend is disassembling one of the sewing machines to replace a broken part. Behind him you can barely see our quirky locker. There's two blocks with drawers under and next to the table for storing all kinds of haberdashery and a three-shelf (ugly) thing for works in progress.

I am very happy with all the light we get in the attic, after we had two dormers placed. And when it's dark outside both dormers each have 2 TL lamps that can be turned on separately. There's a lot of outlets along the bottom of the walls so nearly everywhere in the room you can get power. A lot of thought went into the furnishing of this room and we are very happy that it all worked out so well. We kept the floor as free as possible so we can work with large pieces of fabric.

Which tool or craft supply do you use the most?

Pencil and paper, for sketching or jotting down ideas. Nearly all projects start there. Aside from that: the sewing machine and wool roving.

What do you craft along to?

I usually do my crafting without any background noise. There's no tv in our craft room or kitchen and I don't care much for radio. Sometimes I do my crocheting on the couch during the commercial breaks of a show I'm watching, but that does not occur very often. When I'm crafting I'm usually completely focused.

Favorite Craft

This is a tough question. I like dabbling in nearly everything. I love making clothes and costumes, the vibe of creating wearable items with the sewing machine. Crocheting gloves or hats is cool too, but you can only use so many of those items. ;-)
Felting wool dreads or making other felt items is very satisfying too. So I really can't choose!
I do think, however, that I'm more into fabrics/textiles than say cardstock/paper/clay or anything else.

If you could learn one new craft or make anything, what would it be?

I'd love to be able to work with polymer clay but clay does not seem to be 'my medium', or perhaps I just don't have the patience it takes to make really cool stuff. I would love to one day make a dress or other outfit out of silk and home made felt, I've seen some lovely designs and felt is such a pretty product.

Who are your crafting heroes?

I can't name any specific person. I get my inspiration from everywhere and there are so many people that make wonderful things. I'm envious of people that have a lot of patience with bead-work for costumes, or can work really artfully with polymer clay.
