Based on Wire Tree by Ele
Steel wire, much cheaper than craft wire, but much harder on the hands. Small glass seed beads were used. So far I've made trees from craft wire, which cost me about $70 for the wire for one tree. Steel wire was considerably less at about $5 its hard to use though. I've used copper and brass wire, both to good effect, that can cost $10-$15 though, so its not the cheapest. Also I'm working on one using floral wire, which appears to be strong enough, I can make a tree for about a $1 with that kind of wire, though the silver color isn't as nice as the dark earthy colors of copper and brass.

I have thought about putting a coat of enamel over them, but personally I do prefer brass and copper wire, a little more pricy though compared to the floral wire I've been using lately. I should put some of my newer trees on.

you might try a light spray of paint to change up the color
