I created these fondant cupcake toppers for the the Jubilee last year but they would be perfect for a street party too.

    Step 1

    Colour some sugarpaste navy. Roll out and cut to match the size of your cupcakes.

    Create the red and white strips for the flag by laying a strip of red sugarpaste on top of a slightly wider strip of white sugarpaste. Roll out gently to make a bi-colour strip.

    Cut some red and white strips with an arrow end so they match in the centre nicely.

    Wet (just use water) in the shape of a cross using a small brush.

    Assemble the flag.

    Use the circle cutter again to trim excess.

    Roll out some red sugarpaste and cut out a small heart.
    Immediately dip in red glitter (freshly rolled sugarpaste is wet enough to make the glitter stick).
    Use a dab of water to glue the heart to the flag.
    You may use the brush to apply more glitter to the red stripes of the flag.
