Ribbon Beads Necklace

A necklace made of ribbons in tubes.

Besides the ribbon beads I used some wooden beads and a wicker charm...

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

    Cut the ribbons into pieces of 7 cm.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

    To avoid frayed ribbons, pass it through the upper zone of a flame (the orange one) for about 2 seconds.


  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Coil up the ribbons concentrically.
    (Like a streamer.)

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    Pin it as soon as you finish each bead.


  5. Step 5

    Step 5

    The long you want your necklace the beads you will have to make.
    (You can dip them in to varnish.)

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

    String them (through the holes previously made) and now you have a beautiful necklace.

Mamachka:
You just need your fingers to wind them on (in fact the hard edge you get passing throug the flame could be very useful to start it), and keeping it really tight. To get the consistency in size use the same number of ribbons in each bead and that's it.

Varnish is something that provides an even surface and a glossy and transparent appearence, and in this case rigidity too.
