  • How to make a placemat. Petite Placemats - Step 1
    Step 1

    Use the template on Pattern Sheet B and Stitch Guide to trace the cutting lines and embroidery design onto the center of the fabric. Embroider as noted, except the edging.

  • Step 2

    Trim into shape along the cutting lines (which include seam allowance).

  • Step 3

    Fold and press the edges over 3/8 in (1 cm) to the wrong side, clipping the curves where necessary. Sew Hedebo (https://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/hedebo-embroidery) buttonhole stitch on the folded edge.

    Complete the needlelace edging, as noted in the Stitch Guide.
