The fabric is from Ikea and best of all it was only £2 a meter. :)

Absolutely stunning! I've been making a drumstick case on a pretty similar pattern that I saw over at Craftster but yours, however, is so much more what I need.

Gorgeous material to. Where do you go to get yours? When I go to my nearest fabric shop (Oxford, UK), they hardly ever have anything as pretty as this.

Yeah, I think using wire is a great idea, give it a try and let me know how it works out. :)

Hey, I really dig this. I'll have to talk to my aunt and see if we could work on it together. Do you think it would work to stitch some heavy iron wire into the edges of the case so it would stay rolled or flat as you bent it?

Well, that depends upon the size of your pencils. By giving you my measurements the case may not fit your pencils. You simply make it to the height of your pencils and then as wide as the number of pencils you want it to hold.

If you really need them, then my roll up measure 9.5" by 7".

Just a comment - exact measurements would make this project a lot easier to follow.

It's not really based on age, rather than sewing ability. It's maybe quite a tough project if your kids aren't good sewers.
