I love my iPod, and I love Nyan cat, so here's how I squished them both together to make a Nyan cat iPod cover!

  • How to sew a fabric character pouch. Nyan Cat I Pod Case - Step 1
    Step 1

Gather your materials. The felt colours you'll need are brown, white, pink, red, yellow, orange, green, blue and purple. The thread colours you'll need are brown, black, white, yellow, orange, blue, green and purple. Also, you'll need a black embroidery thread. Don't worry if you don't have all those things, you can leave out some of the rainbow colours.

Next, trace your iPod on the brown felt, then double it and cut it out. Leave it slightly bigger so that your iPod can slide in and out easily.

Now, cute out the pink bit of the pop tart. Make it slightly smaller than the brown, and cut the edge roundly to make it look nice.

    Step 4

Sew little sprinkles onto the pink fabric (I used yellow and pink thread, but use whatever colours that you want). Now sew it onto the brown felt with pink or brown thread.

Now we start with the head, feet and tail. Since it's really hard to draw small things on felt, I drew them onto a piece of paper, then cut around the bits of paper. Remember to draw them big so that they'll come out nice.

    Step 6

Cut out the pieces (from the white felt) and place them on your nyan cat just to make sure they look right.

Now, draw on nyan cat's face with a felt tip pen. Her (or his, I'm not really sure) face is made up of two square eyes, a dot nose and a mouth that looks kind of like a sideways 3.

    Step 8

Now, sew over the marker line with black embroidery thread, to make it look nicer. You don't have to do this, but the marker may wear off after a while if you don't, and nobody wants a face-less nyan cat!

    Step 9

Now, sew on the tail, feet and face. Sew on the tail and feet with brown thread, under the felt, and sew on the face over the felt with white thread.

    Step 10

With your brown thread, sew around the cat to close it up. Obviously, you'll need to leave the top open for your iPod, and leave a bit at the end for your headphones. Basically just sew where the thread is in this photo.

    Step 11

Now that the cat part is done, you need the rainbow! After all, what is nyan cat without her rainbow? So to do this, just line your cat up to the red felt and draw a straight line with the tailors chalk. Cut it into a rectangle, however long you want the rainbow.

    Step 12

Now, use the red rectangle to cut rectangles out of the colours. They should look like the ones in that photo over there.

    Step 13

Line up the rainbow rectangles and cut them to the length of the red one (because that's the one that goes on the bottom) They'll look like in the photo.

    Step 14

Now, sew on each of the pieces individually, with the right colour thread.

Once you have the rainbow sewn up, sew it onto nyan cat. Now you're done! Congrats!
