  • How to stitch a knit or crochet headband. Livlove Headband - Step 1
    Step 1

CO 6 (8) sts with a provisional cast on. Increase Row: Kfb all sts. 12 (16) sts total
    Rib Pattern:
    RS: k2(3), p2(2), k4(6), p2(2), k2(3) WS: p2(3), k2(2), p4(6), k2(2), p2(3)
Starting on WS, repeat until piece measusres 7.5” to 8” long.
With the first 6(8) sts only work, RS: k2(3), p2(2), k2(3) WS: p2(3), k2(2), p2(3) until piece measures 5” long, cut yarn. Go back to 6(8) other sts, and repeat rib until piece measures 5” long, cut yarn. Once both pieces are made, braid them as desired and put all sts back onto one needle RS facing up. Knit original rib pattern for 8” ( from where cables were re-attached to end).
    2 Strand Braid
With the first 3(4) sts only, knit 3(4) sts in Stst (put remainding sts on st holder) until piece measures 5” long, cut yarn. Go back to 9(12) other sts, attach yarn and knit 3(4) sts in Stst until piece measures 5” long, cut yarn. Repeat for all pieces and braid them as desired and put all sts back onto one needle RS facing up. Knit original rib pattern for 8” ( from where cables were re-attached).
    3 or4 Strand Braid
Decrease Row: * k2tog, ssk* repeat till the end. 6(8)sts
Pull out the 6(8) live sts and put them on a 3rd needle. BO with a 3 needles bind off. Weave in all ends while using them to tack in the braid as desired.
TIP: I like using the crochet chain provisional cast-on. Try to use some scrap yarn in the same thickness as your chunky yarn. This will make it easier to get everything started.
