  • How to make a fabric headband. Leaves Headband - Step 1
    Step 1

I made this using a pack of silk "leaves" from the Dollar Store and a fabric headband that was approximately 1 1/2 inches wide at its widest point, but it would be easy to make your own leaves out of scraps of fabric on hand and have included a pattern and instructions for that also.

If making your own leaves using the attached pattern, you might want to use pinking shears or make the leaf jagged.

Here is a guideline for painting on leaf detail with fabric paint.

I used a total of 32 "leaves" on this project - 16 rust colored and 8 gold and 8 yellow.

I used a dot of hot glue to glue two leaves together, offsetting slightly so you will see a peak of the leaf underneath.

I used the edge of pen to push the two together to avoid burning my fingers.

I dabbed a bit of glue on the headband, starting on the left side and glued down the two leaves, then repeated sliding another 2 leaved underneath the 2 I had glued down until I reached the right edge of the headband.

Use the glue gun to glue down edges. Be careful not to burn your fingers on the hot glue - just press lightly but firmly for a second and then repeat. Repeat for both sides of the headband.
