Hang up postcards, photos and other printed material without a frame.
I bought some postcards at Ikea that I thought would look good in my kitchen. The trouble is, I didn't want the end result to look like something out of the Ikea catalog. I finally came up with this idea after a visit to the local hardware store.

  • Step 1

Saw the wood or plywood to the same size as your artwork. I got this done for me at the hardware store when I bought the wood. I used very cheap pine wood.

    Step 2

Drill a hole in the back for hanging up the finished result.

If you don't have a drill, you can also use picture hooks.

I chose to drill a hole because I wanted the artwork to be flush against the wall and and not stick out.

  • Step 3

Paste your artwork to the wood

Iron the veneer strips on to the sides (or glue them on, depending on the type of strips you found) & trim off any excess veneer.

    Tadaaah! Enjoy!!

Great idea! I have gotten some great postcards that I want to display but don't want to put them in a photo frame, it seems so same as every other thing.. I can also see myself doing this with a few photos I just absolutely love and want to display (pics I have taken myself!) Thanks for the great idea! Happy

This is a cute idea; I have so many postcards and birthday cards I had no idea what to do with, and now I have something to use them for!
