Based on Knitted Cat Hat by samantha
I used a round, 36-peg loom and Lion brand Hometown USA yarn. I did 10 rows of rib stitching, then folded that in half to make the bottom edge. The top is 20 rows high. When closing the top row of stitches, don't thread the yarn through each stitch and pull them together like you would for a round hat. Instead, loop it through the first 18 stitches, then carefully sew each remaining stitch to the corresponding rib on the other half of the hat (the first stitch [#19] to #18, the second [#20] to #17, etc.) until you have a flat, rectangular hat that is 18 rows across on each side. Put the hat on and pin where the "ears" start, then sew them with a thread that matches your yarn color. I added cream colored felt to define the ears and for the nose, and dark charcoal gray felt for the muzzle bit. Then I threw on a pair of googly eyes, because everything is better with googly eyes!
