Jewelry From Old Belt!

  • Completed Project: Jewelry From Old Belt! Picture #1

Stud jewelry & bag revamp made from an old belt.

I've had this old (falling apart) stud belt in my closet forever...i still thought it was too nice to throw away. :)
So i thought i could use it to make my own jewelry & revamp accessories!

  1. Step 1

    Step 1

Find an old belt (perferably one with studs)...
And imagine what you want to make or decorate.

  2. Step 2

    Step 2

Take your old belt & exacto-knife, & evenly cut the belt into pieces of strips.
(You can use scissors too, but exacto-knifes are sharper & make cleaner lines)

Then Make Whatever You Can Think Of!!

  3. Step 3

    Step 3

    Like this Rockin Stud Bracelet!

(Just cut your belt in a strip long enough to fit OVER YOUR HAND. Then hot-glue the ends together...hold for a long time. Done!)

  4. Step 4

    Step 4

    These Punk Bangles.

(same steps as above, just smaller strips)

  5. Step 5

    Step 5

Or take an old junky clutch...

(look through some fashion magazines for ideas)

  6. Step 6

    Step 6

And make everyone ask you where you bought it!! lol

I seriously saw a bag similar to this in a magazine for $300!

(I just carefully hot-glued the strips right on the bag.)

  7. Step 7

    Step 7

    TIPS:

    1) If your belt is faux-leather, old, or as junky as mine (like falling apart)...glue the sides of each strip (where u cut) a little also. Or it will just come apart again.

    2) If you think the exposed glue is too shiny or distracting, I just colored over it with a black permanent marker. :) You cant even tell! You could cover it with ribbon or fabric too, i guess.

  8. Step 8

    Step 8

YOU CAN MAKE OR DECORATE ANYTHING!
(I would have made more but i ran out of belt :P)

    Decorate shelves, mirrors, boxes, etc.
You could also use snap-buttons (instead of glueing), & make things like chokers.
Or use jumprings & chains to decorate a plain black belt for goth jewelry.
I'm even going to re-use leftover studs to decorate my Chuck Taylor shoes!

    HAVE FUN.
