No space for a tree? Learn how to get in the festive spirit with some tape and cheap lights!
I live in a small studio apartment with absolutely no where to stick a tree. What I do have though, is a collection of washi tapes and fairy lights and a wall calling my name.

This project is perfect for renters who can't use nails or can't use paint removing tape!

  • How to make a christmas tree. Home | Decorating A Small Space For The Holidays - Step 1
    Step 1

Find a wall. I have this partial wall that separates the sleeping portion of the studio from the living portion.
This one works nicely because it's the first thing you see when you walk in, plus it's our gallery wall.

Wipe the wall off with some alcohol wipes to prepare it.

  • Step 2

Find a shape of tree you like. I like the basic, three tiered, "I'm definitely a tree" shape, so I went with that.

Grab washi tape of your choice and start taping the shape up.
You can stencil it out before hand, but I free hand taped it.

Make sure when you're making the points that you snip the tape as straight as possible.

And, there you have it, a cute washi tape tree, just begging for (hopefully 3D) presents.

Buuuuut, if you're wanting something a bit more festive, tape some lights to the tree.

I used clear scotch tape because I know that it holds the lights up, but if you're going to have these on for an extended period of time, I'd opt for the command hooks for lights.

I went with a random zig zag for a more decorated tree look, but it's really up to your preference.
