This is a healthier alternative to chocolate chip cookies.
With the applesauce the cookie kinda turns into muffin type texture. If you want the regular crispy, soft, chewy texture you will use 8 tbsp of softened butter instead of the applesauce. But with the applesauce you can eat twice as many (4) for the same calories as 2 cookies (which happens to be 190 calories).

Makes 12 cookies, but if you make them smaller then you get more, just keep in mind, if you make them smaller you can eat more!

  • Step 1

Like always with baking; Preheat oven to 375F.

  • How to bake a chocolate chip cookie. Healthier Chocolate Chip Cookies - Step 2
    Step 2

In a mixing bowl, thoroughly mix the 8 tbsp applesauce (or butter), 1/2 cup brown sugar, & 1/2 cup granulated sugar until creamy. Stir in 2 eggs and 1 tsp vanilla extract until well incorporated. Add the 1/2 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt, and 2 cups flour & mix until the dough comes together being careful not to over mix. Stir in the 1/2 cup chocolate chips {I always add extra chips because you can never go wrong with extra chocolate chips lol}.

  • Step 3

Drop the dough onto baking sheet in balls about 3 tablespoons in size (you read that right!), leaving at least 3 inches between cookies.

  • Step 4

Bake for 12 minutes or until edges are golden brown and the middles are just barely set. Remove from the sheet and cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!!!!
