    You will need;

Embroidery threads in colours of your choice - I've gone for dusky pinks and scarlet red.
    Embroidery needle
    Small, sharp scissors
    Fabric to work on
An embroidery hoop - this is optional but you get a better result working on taught fabric
Pencil, pen or wash-away marker for placing where you want your design to go.

    Step 2

Start by drawing where you want to embroider your woven rose's.
I'm using a wash away embroidery maker and have roughly sketched out where I want my roses to be on my piece.

The marker pen washes away when wet.

    Step 3

    Preparing your threads.

Embroidery threads are most often made up of 6 strands. Normally you will separate these strands into two sections of 3 threads each but you don't have to!

For this tutorial, I am using all 6 threads

Thread your needle and tie a small knot in the tail end of your thread. This stops it being pulled all the way through your fabric with your first stitch.

    Step 4

First, mark out a set of spokes for your rose, you can do as many or few spokes as you like but they must be an odd number, so 3, 5, 7, 9 etc.

They all need to be roughly the same length and start from the centre.

    Step 5

Stitch the spokes. for the purpose of this tutorial I am using a different colour thread to the colour of my rose - you can use a different colour or the same colour.

Coming up from the back of your work, bring your need through the centre of the spokes to start your rose.

  • Step 7

Weave your needle under and over the spokes.

    Step 9

Keep going! Filling up the spokes with under and over weaving to fill out your rose.

    Step 10

When you've filled the spokes as much as you want, push your needle from the front of your work to the back and knot off your thread to secure it.
