These Greek ceramic washer beads look just like the sweets in candy bracelets and necklaces. I wanted to make something that was a bit more grown up.

Step 1Cut one end of the cord into a point to make it easier to thread the beads on.

Step 2Using a pair of chain nose pliers add a fold over clasp to one end of the necklace.

Step 3It will look a bit like this.

Step 4Thread on the pastel colour washers in a random pattern.

Step 5Add about 2/3rds of the pastel coloured washers.

Step 6Thread on all the fuchsia coloured washers to get a colourblock effect.

Step 7Add the rest of the pastel coloured beads.

Step 8Again using chain nose pliers add a fold over clasp to the other end of the suede cord.

Step 9Use 2 pairs to open the jump rings. To open and close jump rings hold either side of the opening in the ring with a pair of pliers. Move the ends in a forward and backwards motion. Never pull the jump ring apart sideways, this deforms the shape of the ring.

Step 10Use the jump rings to attach the ends of the clasps.
