I was looking for a way to use my old magazines instead of throwing them out. I want to make Christmas as cheap as I can this year, so I'm trying to make my own wrapping items.
I found a blog called How About Orange that had a great post about these bows. I credit them completely.
I just wanted to do a How-To for the fun of it. :)
1
Choose a page from a magazine that you want to use. I have used solid colored pages, ones with a ton of prints, etc. Have fun with it!
What's on the other side matters too. You can see the words from the back of this one in the finished bow. I like the look, but it's something to consider.
2
Measure 9 strips that are 3/4" wide.
I did this on the back so I could see the markings.
I don't measure anymore, and they come out pretty well.
3
Cut out the 9 strips.
4
I took this right from the blog because I don't want to screw it up.
"Leave 3 of the strips full length. Cut one inch off 3 of the strips. Cut two inches off 2 of the strips. Cut the last strip down to 3 1/2" long."
5
Twist the loops at both ends to make these figure 8 looking pieces.
Make the smallest strip into a circle.
The blogger stapled her pieces in the middle, I used school glue that I had gotten free with coupons. I wanted a totally free project.
6
Layer the 3 longest pieces together and glue in the middle.
Do the same for the next 3, and then the 2.
7
Now just put the pieces together in size order and glue. You're done!
I hope this was fun and easy. :)
